        Term 4

Welcome back! I hope you’ve all had a chance to relax and recharge over the break. We’re excited about all the incredible things this term has in store, engaging learning experiences, fun events, and opportunities to celebrate our school community. Some of the big events coming up include our end-of-year concert, Remembrance Day, and Sports Day. We’d love for all our families to come along, get involved, and support our amazing students as they show off their talents and hard work!
KESAB Team
Our dedicated KESAB team, comprising of Arlo, Inez, Alpha, and Iris, have been working under the guidance and support of Julie to create a fantastic video aimed at reducing food waste in our school and the wider community. Their hard work and creativity have resulted in an outstanding competition entry titled "The Great Green Bin Party."

Voting for the KESAB video competition is still open! We encourage all students and families to support our school's video and showcase the positive steps we are taking towards sustainability.

We are pleased to share that our Department for Education Behaviour Support Coach will be running a special session for Year 6 parents to assist in preparing students for their transition to high school and beyond.
This session will be held in the SAC on Tuesday 18 November at 6.00pm. It will focus on effective strategies to support children during this significant and sometimes challenging period, ensuring both students and their families feel confident and equipped to navigate the transition smoothly.
We encourage all Year 6 parents to attend this presentation. We look forward to seeing you there!

Celebrating the End of Term 3 with Cultural Learning

As we wrapped up Term 3, we were delighted to welcome Drew and Liesl from Walking Together with Kaurna for a meaningful cultural incursion around the fire pit.
This unique event gave our students a wonderful opportunity to engage in cultural learning and storytelling. Gathering around the fire, students listened to stories and participated in the traditional preparation of kangaroo tail and damper. They were even able to taste these traditional foods, adding an interactive and memorable aspect to their learning experience.
We are proud to provide enriching experiences like this, which foster deeper understanding and respect for Kaurna culture. Events like these are an important part of our commitment to embedding cultural learning within our school community.

        Class Placement

We are currently in the process of preparing for 2026. We are now accepting requests from parents/caregivers regarding their child’s class placement for 2026. Requests must be submitted by Sunday 9 November (end of Week 4).
Requests will be considered and where possible acted upon. However, with only a finite number of class options and creating classes that are balanced academically, socially and behaviourally, the good of the whole group will take priority over the individual. Therefore, requests are not guaranteed.
We assume that parents and caregivers who do not submit a request are comfortable with class teachers making informed decisions about their child’s placement in 2026.
When setting classes, we consider student identified friendships, teacher input and parent/caregiver requests. Furthermore, it is important to understand that teachers have not been allocated year levels for 2026 at this stage, nor have the configuration of classes been finalised and the current structure is very likely to change for 2026.
All requests must be submitted via a class request form which can be found at

A separate form will need to be completed for each child.

        Remembrance Day

Our Remembrance Day ceremony will be held on Tuesday 11 November. Families are welcome to join us at 10.00am where classes will be open and students will be sharing their learning. At 10.45am we ask that families assemble on the tiger turf where we will commemorate Remembrance Day. After the ceremony students will have their Recess break.

        Parking Control Around Schools

Mitcham Council continually monitors schools to enforce parking zones and restrictions to ensure the safety of students. By parking appropriately when you drop your children off to school, you can help to ensure there is no danger to students and avoid traffic congestion around our school.
Please be aware any breaches of the Australian Road Rules 1999 observed by Community Safety Officers may result in the issue of an expiation notice.
Please click the link below to the ‘Children Schools & Traffic’ brochure which has information for drivers about public and student safety at school drop off and pick up times.
